Parish Finance Council, Parish Pastoral Council »
On Saturday, 10 December 2010, at 7:00 p.m., the Parish of Santa Rita de Cascia, through its Parish Finance & Pastoral Councils, will serenade the major donors (second cycle of the fund-raising) to the construction of its new convent in an outdoor benefit concert, to be held at the parish convent garden.
Artists who are friends of the parish will perform classical Filipino songs – from kundimans to timeless ballads that will surely make for a sentimental evening.
Guests are requested to come in formal or Filipiniana attire.

In the last meeting of the Parish Pastoral Council, the head of the Music Ministry, Ms. Recita G. Pineda, reminded the Chapel Pastoral Council (CPCs) choirs to refrain from singing Christmas songs during Advent. Christmas songs should only be allowed after the birth of Christ onwards. Why? Isn’t the start of Simbang Bengi the start of Christmas already? How is Advent different from Christmas?

When Miguel López de Legazpi arrived on the island of Cebu 1565, he was accompanied by the Augustinian Andrés de Urdaneta, the chief sailor of the expedition, and four other Augustinians.
In 1571, the expedition reached Manila, where the Augustinians built the main house of their order in the Philippines.
By 1578, the Order was joined by the Franciscans, and then by the Jesuits (1581), the Dominicans (1587) and by the Recollects (1606).

From 23-31 October, the parish shall hold Memorial Masses for the Dead at 5:30 p.m.. No Masses will be said in the morning except on Sundays (23 & 30 October), which follow the regular schedule (5:00 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m. – High Mass in English, and 5:30 p.m.).
The Book of the Dead shall be opened as early as 3:00 p.m. everyday, for parishioners to write down the names of their departed loved ones.
