3rd-anniv-relic

On the 17th of August 2008, a spectacle never before seen in the parish happened. Long lines of students and pupils in uniform, government officials and ordinary people on the street patiently waited for St. Rita’s relic. When it arrived, a very solemn procession was then held which concluded with a concelebrated Mass at the parish church.

Parishioners and visitors alike filled the parish church as early as 3:30 a.m. to hear Mass on the day of St. Rita’s feast day, 22 May 2011. During the liturgy, the Oil for the Sick was administered to all concerned.  The Sacrament of the Sick is the highest form of …

Antique ivory image of St. Rita of Cascia, Santa Rita, Pampanga, Philippines

The novena to St. Rita de Cascia, patroness of the town, takes on a special significance this year. Within the nine (9) days of prayer and Masses, the last three are to be treated as a Triduum for the return of the image of the lost ivory image of the saint, according to Msgr. Gene Reyes, parish priest.
Around ten years ago, the detachable ivory head and hands of the antique image of St. Rita, which has been in the parish for more than a century, were presumably stolen. Different sources …
